I wonder if you are like me? With every new year I look back on the year that has passed and look to the new to see what changes I would like to see. When I was younger I would make grand resolutions for the new me. Over the years I have learned to love the current me.
Although one can always grow, and for me that has me looking for small improvements. I’ve kept my journals over the years and they are always fun to look back on. This year I have decided to choose a word that would frame the year ahead of me. This year my word is ADVENTURE!
At the beginning of each year, I look at the different elements of my life and see how I can apply my word to each of them. Personal ones such as my Physical Health, Mental Health, and Spiritual Health, and then also shared areas like Finances, Marriage, Family & Friends, Career, Home, and Community.
Goal: Live with open hands.
Action: Not only lessen my need for control, but enjoy the freedom from it with the business and family (this one will take a little work!)
Goal: Lose 30 lbs.
Action: This year I will be a little more adventurous in my physical fitness and in my food. Try new things and step out of my comfort zone.
Goal: Begin a focused study of the Bible.
Action: Begin a daily quiet time.
Goal: Pay off debt.
Action: Try new avenues to pay off debt. I’ve never tried selling on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace. I will start there!
Goal: More adventures with my husband
Action: Monthly date nights trying new things together
FRIENDS & FAMILY
Goal: More quality time with friends
Action: Invite friends or family to try something new each month either out or at my home
Goal: Be open to new possibilities
Action: Try not to do things because I have always done them a certain way. Be open to changes.
Goal: Less Pinning and More Doing
Action: I will start trying more of the things that I have Pinned over the years
Goal: Look for ways to serve in my community.
Action: Sometimes it’s better to speak up than to stay silent. I will.
I’m looking forward to this new year and what it has to offer. I wonder what changes will come and what will stay the same. A new year offers so many new opportunities to grow, nourish and inspire ourselves and those around us. Tell me, what are some changes that you want to make? What worked well for you over the last year? What is worth keeping? Share with me in the comments below. And Happy New Year!
