Life is Like a Garden

“Life is like a box of chocolates.” I just love that line from Forrest Gump. Mostly because I love chocolates and a whole box is even better, but in my life I have learned that life is like a garden.

Gardens give you whatever you put in to them. Joy is in the tending of your garden, and can’t be tied to the outcome. Gardens are constantly changing and evolving as you do as a gardener. Gardens grow, nourish and inspire…it’s a journey.

Gardens definitely grow and they grow you. You start with lofty expectations of the most Pinterest worthy garden and end up with a few jalapeƱos and a lot of weeds!

But this magical thing happens along the way. You learn how much garden you are able to tend, you learn what grows best in your garden, you learn how much work a garden takes and then you learn the joy of gathering the fruits from that garden! Gardens are a dance of balance.

Gardens nourish both your soul and your tummy. The excitement of going out to your garden and finding the changes that have occurred since you were there last. The comfort in going to your garden to help prepare the evening meal.

Gardens get and give inspiration to those around them. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see other people’s gardens and landscape. That is one of the many reasons I love to travel.

Whether traveling through the pins on Pinterest or visiting another country or culture, I am always inspired by the beauty and ingenuity of those around me. If we limit our garden to only our own ideas, experience and knowledge then we have missed out on all the world has to offer.

I would love to share my journey to GROW, NOURISH and INSPIRE and also to learn from you. How have you grown? How do you nourish yourself and others? Where do you get inspiration from? I would love to hear from you. Join me on Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest!
